Song Presentation

The song presentation was a good manner to develop our pronunciation of words.I had to sing a song in order to present my oral exam at Phonology class. It was interesting because it helped me in my pronunciation of English words. Furthermore, I felt nervous before the presentation but, then when was the moment of sing my song everything changed. The song that I chose was "Leave out all the rest" by Linkin Park. I like this song because the lyric shows how the artist feels when his lover leaves.

To have a better presentation I downloaded the song in karaoke version in order to sing better and don't have any mistake.
There are many videos in karaoke that we have available on  www.youtube.com. It is easy to look for them..
Here is the song that I chose.

Consonant Sounds

There 26 consonant sounds in English. I think is important to learn the sounds in order to have a better pronunciation of English words. Furthermore is useful to understand well the sounds and practice those at home. There are some sounds that can be confuse at the moment of pronunciation for example: /f/ and /v/ these sounds can be like the same at the moment of speaking. Both sounds have the same characteristics , there are fricative, labio-dental but,  the only thing that we have to know is that /f/ sound is a voiceless sound it means it doesn't have vibration. The /v/ sound is a voiced sound, it has vibration.
There are lots of videos that can help the students to develop a better pronunciation. Those videos are available on youtube. com. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdRmGvmeY1U. It can help you.

Tongue Twisters

I think the tongue twisters can help us to improve the way to pronounce the words. Also it helps us to speak faster. In my personal learning I try to look for tongue twisters with letters that are kind of difficult to produce for example: I can think of six thin thing, but I can think of six thick things too; this tongue twister has the th letters and I have to make the  sound. I like to practice this sound. In addition there are lots of tongue twisters that you can find in English books or through out Internet here I have a URL of a website that has tongue twisters for kids and  adults. http://www.buzzle.com/articles/tongue-twisters-for-adults.html

Example:

If you understand, say "understand".

If you don't understand, say "don't understand".

But if you understand and say "don't understand".
How do I understand that you understand? Understand!
